telluride residence

Montane conditions and seasonal variability challenge and inspire each of our projects. At a residence near Telluride, Colorado, roughly 9600 feet above sea level, steep slopes denuded of vegetation challenge the client’s vision of safe and fun play space for their children. Bluegreen envisioned landscape interventions that maximize play areas by utilizing local stone retaining walls and incorporating the slope into play possibilities. Interventions are inspired by the character of neighboring open space and reflect native vegetation communities onto the exposed hillside providing improved habitat, privacy screening, and ecological function.

the power of place

Preservationists in Colorado are leading the charge towards revealing hidden narratives in historic landscapes and buildings. Sam and Kate of Bluegreen attended the 2018 Saving Places Conference in Denver, which focused on the power of historic preservation to tell stories in equitable and empowering ways. Sam and Kate thoroughly enjoyed meeting fellow preservation enthusiasts and look forward to incorporating what they learned.
